We finally reached Lake Van, and I was overwhelmed by the sight of water. The lake was a sea, the calmest blue, the first I had seen since Tuz Gölü. We walked along its edge until night fell.
Harika is the Turkish word for wonderful, marvellous, extraordinary. It has always been one of my most favourite words, for both its meaning and the pleasure of pronouncing it.
