WOW! What a fantastic group of drawings!! You were working hard, in between plates of delicious food...! It is always a thrill to see your sketches. I peer into them, and think... "how did she balance that page? Is that pencil crayon? I have to remember to leave more space, but make the page feel finished..." Lessons from Harika - Thank you!!
Thank you so much! I need more holidays like that one...
Well if you'd like to know about the pencils, I've taken to using a dark cadmium orange colour pencil from Faber Castell (I can't read what type it is since it's all chewed up!), a blue lead in a mechanical pencil, and an indigo Derwent Coloursoft pencil. The drawings were then layered in watercolour (except the side of the cliff, which was straight paint).
Harika is the Turkish word for wonderful, marvellous, extraordinary. It has always been one of my most favourite words, for both its meaning and the pleasure of pronouncing it.
Welcome to Harika, the adventures of a compulsive sketcher.
